It’s going to be my birthday on Wednesday, but with my Mum dying I’m not really in the mood to think about getting older. My Mistress has asked what would be my perfect couple of hours. I thought about it long and hard and, presuming eating the entire contents of the kitchen cupboards isn’t being offered as an option, what I would like is a short walk round the village followed by snuggling up on the bed, just the two of us. If all goes according to plan, that’s exactly what we are going to do. I might push my luck and ask for a game of ball too and maybe steak for tea, followed by ice cream.
If you take the dog years I will officially be the oldest person in the house which is a pretty weird thought. It’s made me think of the things in life I still want to achieve too. Obviously I want to see the business in my name blossoming and successful, but I need to progress the writing of the Pet Dogs Democratic Party manifesto and leave a lasting legacy of my own. I’ve already had the satisfaction of seeing one of our policies adopted when Nottinghamshire police announced recently that they are to pay pensions to retired service dogs to help with the care they might need. This is an amazing step forward, hopefully one of many.
Yesterday saw the making of the Christmas cake. It’s really cruel as the smell of cake cooking was a constant factor throughout the afternoon and we aren’t allowed to eat any of it. I have to say it smelt amazing. I suppose I shouldn’t grumble too much as my Mistress can’t eat it either. Ah well at least we can eat the marzipan when it gets to that stage. That won’t be for a couple of weeks apparently it needs to be steeped in alcohol first and I’m not allowed to help with that stage either.
