Bravely, my Mistress pressed the send button on the test that marked the end of the first week of her genetics course. She’s worked very hard to understand it this week and says that if she passes then she will take next week just as seriously too and if she doesn’t then she’ll do what she can for fun and never mind the assessments. Of course, I know her better than that, and she will mind the assessments. The same as she minded last Saturday morning when she found that her 11 year old stepson understood more than she did about some parts of the course. Her defence was that she missed most of the biology course when she was his age at school because she was off sick for so many weeks of school. She had glandular fever and it wasn’t practical for her to catch up on everything. At least that’s her story!
Every day we try to read the signs as to whether Shadow is pregnant. She’s licking everyone more and trying to take care of them. She’s very bouncy. She’s still peeing a lot when she goes out. Then my Mistress reminded me that in a dog the hormone levels change in the same pattern whether or not they are pregnant and we can’t read anything into it. Shadow is simply walking around with her head held high, keeping her secret to herself.
My Mistress is away tonight. She’s going to see a concert with a friend, so I am in charge of looking after my Master. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it. I need to remember to put Aristotle to bed at his bedtime too. He doesn’t get to stay up late with us, although if he’s quiet this evening he might just get away with it.
