You can’t help but notice that Megan is not here. The house seems very quiet. It’s almost as though three dogs rather than just one have gone. My Mistress has managed to talk on the phone with only minor interruptions and but for giving Shadow a bit of a rest from the two of us bothering her, the gates between rooms are rarely closed. For me there is a feeling of relief at not having to fear being attached, for Aristotle there is a deep sadness that his girlfriend isn’t here to play with and worse he now has no one sharing his room at night. He asked if he could come upstairs and join the rest of us and my Mistress was tempted but Ari couldn’t promise that he wouldn’t jump on our Master before 7 in the morning. My Mistress says she can’t quite believe that Meg isn’t here and it all feels very strange. We all hope she is settling well and happy with her sister and nieces. Aristotle is hoping he might get chance to see her in spring, but that will depend on whether she is pregnant or not. Having gone to all this trouble, no one wants to risk interfering with a possible pregnancy.
My Mistress is still not completely well and has a second course of antibiotics from the doctor. It doesn’t help that her body clock is really confused with the hour change and the time difference to Switzerland and she’s waking up at 5 in the morning, which to be honest is a very uncivilised time of day. Shadow doesn’t seem to mind getting up then and Aristotle is positively delighted but it’s way too early for me. I’m not a morning dog. I never have been and I can’t see that changing now.
