Wednesday 30th October 2013 – A better route

It’s funny, my Mistress has driven the same route to Switzerland for the last several years and has never thought to go a different way. This time because she went to visit Faigo (another Entlebucher) she came a different way that was not only the same length in distance but had fewer tolls. It’s not just the money that made that better. When you are driving a right hand drive car on the continent  and don’t have any passenger in the front seat then to avoid excessive bruising you have to get out at every toll both, run round the car and get the ticket then run back, get in and drive off, which is all a bit of a faff when there are so many toll booths. Anyway, she arrived in Calais yesterday afternoon and was even happier to find she had a spare hour to go shopping before she came home. She only bought a scarf and jumper for herself but my Master will be happy as she’s bought beer for him. We are happy because her drive brought her through Belgium and one of the service stations had a Del Haize supermarket so she has bought us some of our favourite marzipan. I am now willing to instantly forgive her for sending us to kennels for a week.

Shadow is glad their travelling is nearly over. She says although staying quiet and calm is the best thing she can be doing for a few days to make sure she becomes pregnant, she has rather had enough of the travelling and staying in different hotels each night. She says there’s no place quite like home and my Mistress says she couldn’t agree more. My Mistress says when she gets home she is looking forward to a long hot bath. Shadow says she’ll skip that one.
