Shadow couldn’t wait to tell us all about how the weekend had gone and the fact that one of her own daughters has now qualified for breeding. She was sensitive enough not to be going on about it in front of Megan, which I thought was probably a good thing. She says she’s sorry there aren’t any more of her children going forward for the test yet but she’s still hoping some might go through next time. She can’t wait to be a granny and says she wants to be all matriarchal and get them all together for big family photos. I said that might be difficult but she didn’t want to listen to practicalities. One day she might be a great-grandmother and that would really be something. I said that in the meantime she needed to focus on her season starting so she could be a mum again. It was funny when my Mistress was putting some of the equipment from the weekend away in the summerhouse, I said she shouldn’t block in all the things we were going to need out for the puppies, but she reminded me that was still at least a couple of months away.
In comparison to all the preparation life should be a little quieter although I have to help with all the follow up emails and paperwork, so I’m going to be quite busy. It will teach me for coming out with a comment like ‘I’m sorry I couldn’t have helped.’ That will teach me. Next time I need to keep my mouth very firmly closed!
I did have words with my Mistress when I got back from kennels and that doesn’t happen often. I went round the house to check on everything, only to find that Aristotle slept in my bed last night. Worse, he got into bed with my Mistress. That’s my place and mine alone! That’s what I told her. I don’t think she’ll do it again.
