Yesterday when my Mistress took us outside there was a dead sparrow lying on the patio. She specifically told us to leave it alone and she would deal with it later. I heard her. Aristotle heard her, in fact I should think the whole neighbourhood heard her… all except Shadow. Shadow may have in mind moving to a raw diet or she may have been thinking about giving our Mistress a nice present. Anyway, when we went out next my Mistress had forgotten about the poor little bird, until Shadow brought it in and dropped it at her feet! If the neighbourhood didn’t hear her telling us to leave it alone they would certainly have heard her that time!
I’m trying to keep out of the way at the moment. My Mistress’s desk went critical yesterday afternoon. You should have seen the piles of papers and the look on her face. I know from past experience that for her to feel in control her desk needs to have the outward appearance of being orderly. If it looks a mess, the chances are that my Mistress will be feeling the pressure until it’s sorted out again. I did think of getting a black bin liner and offering to help, but that is not always the best approach. Normally it works best to let her stroke me for a few minutes and then leave her alone to sort it out. One of the items is the kit for her to get our paw prints for the new necklace she is having with her money from her birthday. That’s the fun bit as long as I don’t think too much about having to get my paw dirty to be able to oblige. It’s one of those things you have to think about the end result rather than the process.
