Thursday 19th September 2013 – Happy birthday Aristotle

Happy birthday Aristotle… and Addie, Arnie, Amigo, Dora, Soggeli and Rafa. It’s amazing to think you are all 2 today. It only seems like yesterday…

Shadow has been going round with a beaming smile on her face. Having seen her very own human for the first time in four months and had some lovely walks with our Mistress all to herself she is one very happy little dog. It’s funny remembering back to when she was two and was really a very annoying dog. She’s really grown up now and is quite enjoyable to be around. Although having said that when she’s happy she is like a toy on springs and moves every step by bouncing upwards first. My Mistress said on their walk yesterday she managed to run like that. I don’t know how she does it. Try as I might I don’t have nearly so much spring in my step as she does.

When she was at the garden centre my Mistress briefly contemplated buying some winter broccoli to plant so it was ready in the spring. Fortunately she saw sense and decided that the butterflies still seemed to be active so it was probably too high risk. You would think she’d learnt her lesson and wouldn’t want to go anywhere near the stuff again.

All the birdfeeders had to be refilled yesterday. I don’t know where they are putting it all. Although to be fair our ‘soup kitchen’ for the birds does seem to have been broadcast fairly widely judging by the numbers turning up for their meals. I said we should start providing more nesting boxes for them as well. Given that we had a family in the one we had it’s time to increase our property holding. This buy-to-let thing has been all the rage with humans so I don’t see why it shouldn’t work out with the wildlife as well. We’d have to have different sizes for the different types of birds, although I don’t think the pigeons and crows need any help.
