We are so proud of my human uncle. This weekend he undertook the challenge of climbing the highest mountains in each of Scotland, England and Wales in what is called the Three-Peaks Challenge. It isn’t just that he did them over the whole weekend, the challenge is to complete them in 24 hours – basically with no sleep. Apparently eight people started and of those only three finished. In order to make it within the 24 hour time Andy, my uncle, had to run down Mount Snowden, but he managed it in 23 hours and 45 mins. The other two who finished took over 24 hours – not bad for someone the same age as my Mistress, who wouldn’t contemplate doing one of them. He did it to raise money for The British Heart Foundation and when I last checked he’d raised £730. It’s not too late to sponsor him, as a sort of ‘Wow, that’s amazing’ sort of payment. Our day was rather more mundane and involved us going for my Master’s train driving experience. That’s what the photo is from, the let my Mistress and little Andy go on the train before my Master started off. I was fed up when she came back to the car and told me as I think the photo would have looked far better with a dog on the footplate. All four of us went for the outing as there was a two hour wait while my Master enjoyed himself. We had to listen to one of my Mistress’s talking books instead, that and go for a walk of course.
My Mistress has concluded that the thing at which she has been most successful this year is growing caterpillars. It’s a sad state of affairs but it seems she is single handedly trying to restore the butterfly population.
