Actually I don’t know exactly how many days it’s been since the seeds were planted but yesterday the fennel had poked their heads through, so that’s only the parsnips and carrots that haven’t yet surfaced. On a less positive note Aristotle ate one of the new blueberry bushes. My Mistress thinks she caught the plant in time to save it and has put netting and willow sticks all wound it, but there aren’t going to be any berries on that particular bush this year and my Mistress is not best pleased. Ari said the branches smelt and tasted good and didn’t seem to be showing a great deal of remorse. I had a sniff and could see his point but it was made abundantly clear to me that if I joined in the act of vandalism there was going to be trouble. Faced with that I chose the safe option and came inside.
Megan is much better, thank goodness. She’s eating again and back to being her old self. She’s getting lots of cuddles and says she’s fine, but my Mistress is really missing her and finding it hard to be apart. On my Mistress’s new blog, she wrote about me yesterday and how my diary began. You can find it here www.rjkind.com The blog is the ‘Me and my writing’ page. I thought with her new novel out she might forget all the help I’ve given her with her writing over the years, but thankfully it seems not.
We’ve got my Mistress’s best friend here this weekend so we’re getting lots of fun and spending less time working, which has to be a good thing. My Mistress is also trying to get back to playing the keyboard. She can only play for a few minutes at a time or her fingers start really aching, but it’s a start and maybe she’ll get back to where she was, although it’s going to be a slow process. The physio thinks it will be another 3 months before all the swelling in her hand has gone down.
