Friday 17th May 2013 – First Sightings

I am delighted, if not a little surprised, to say that the broccoli and cauliflower seeds have come through. It’s either that or we have two very neat lines of weeds. There are no signs of the peas, carrots, fennel or parsnips but I’m sure they are lurking in there somewhere. There is no sign of the squash either but that may be because they had to change planter as the blueberry put in a better bid for the one they were in. What I forgot to tell you was that when the blueberry bushes arrived the package looked as though it had been run over – they were bent double, squashed and the package had been extensively taped up. The lovely delivery man said he was going to send them straight back rather than even give them to us as he was so embarrassed by the condition. We did send them back and fortunately the company sent the new ones out immediately and they arrived yesterday. The only problem was that one was rather larger than my Mistress had been expecting and consequently the pot the squash were not yet really growing in was commandeered for a better cause. We put some new squash seeds in another pot, the one that had been intended for the blueberry so we will have to see how they do, they’ll just be a little later than first scheduled.

Megan is feeling poorly again. She seems to have a flare up of the ulcer that was causing the problem the other week. She’s back on medicine from the vet and hopes to be ok in a few days. She says she’s doing her best but all the change would have been stressful for any dog. My Mistress was sad that she couldn’t be there to give her a hug, but I’m sure she’s getting lots of hugs anyway. Get well soon Meggy Dog.
