Friday 10th May 2013 – It’s really happening

As I watched my Mistress packing the car ready to head off later this morning I had quite a lump in my throat. I know Megan doesn’t like me and has jumped on me more times than I can count on four paws but she has been one of my pack for the last three years and that’s a long time for a dog. I know she had a couple of months is Switzerland but somehow that was different. This feels more real somehow. Shadow is pretty upset as she and Megan spend a lot of time together on walks and because it gives her one fewer dog to boss around. Aristotle is all right about it at the moment as he’s going on the first part of the journey with her. He says it will probably only really hit him when he comes home. I’ve told him he has an important job to do this weekend, taking care of our Mistress who is feeling very glum at having to say goodbye to her little girl for a while. We haven’t got as far as looking at the upsides yet, but there must be some and if nothing else we still have the hope that at the end of it all there will be a litter of little puppies who look just like their mum, but preferably don’t jump on me!

The vegetable trough was sorted. The problem was nothing a little brute force couldn’t solve and my Master can always be relied upon in that department. He put the connectors for the hoops on the outside of the trough which was rather easier and then forced the hoops to stretch a little to go over them. Though I’m loathed to admit it, he’s done a very good job. I just wish I’d have thought of doing it that way.
