The insect netting and hoops to go over the vegetable trough have arrived. My Mistress took them straight outside to apply them to the trough… if only it were that simple! The problem is that they seem to expect you to have worked out that you need them at the outset of the project and so there are pieces which need to be screwed in and which go part way down the sides… on the inside… which is now filled with soil and has been planted with seeds! Oh it would be possible to dig little holes but that’s going to disturb the planting. My Mistress is waiting to have a council of war with my Master to see if he has any bright ideas.
It’s our last day at home with Megan for a while. I said we should all have a special tea to wish her farewell. I had in mind some prime beef with maybe fresh vegetables and then an ice cream to follow. Unfortunately I do not control either the buying decisions or the serving up of food and I think I may have been overruled. It is going to be odd about the place with one less. It’s going to mean fewer other dogs to blame when I do something wrong. ‘Oh it wasn’t me, you know I’m too mature to do something like that. It must have been one of the others.’ For food theft I can often get away with that line but my bark is quite distinctive and loud so that is rarely one I can duck out of.
Ari is excited about his weekend away with my Mistress. It’s not so much being with my Mistress he’s excited about it’s the fact that he gets to stay with our grandparents and he knows he will get spoilt rotten. He’s got a rapport with Grandpa which will be fine until he tries to dig the garden up and I know that however much he’s loved, he’ll still be in trouble for that one.
