So far we have part of a vegetable trough. Actually more to the point part of it is assembled, it’s just not the part you could grow vegetables in! I could say that the project has got legs… but at the moment that’s all it’s got. My Master went and bought new electric screwdriver and if you’d seen the raptures my Mistress was in you’d think she’d been given a new puppy. I suggested she should get out more. Anyway, it turns out that trying to hammer, use a spanner and hold everything with your left hand while trying not to use your bad right hand is not so easy. ‘Alfie, will you hold this in place while I hit it with the hammer.’ Sure, and then why don’t I stand against the tree while you practice firing a bow and arrow! – of course it would have been better if I had kept that sarcasm to myself instead of actually saying it, but you live and learn. The long and the short of it was that she only got half way through putting the legs together when she decided her hand needed a rest so we will be resuming later today. When I say ‘we’ what I mean is, I will be hiding upstairs and my Mistress will be outside fighting the vegetable trough.
Arguments are breaking out over the summer holiday. The plan was that two of us went and two stayed at home. That was all right until we arranged for Megan to go to a foster family for a while. Now she will be away and it would be one of us being left behind rather than two. I said please could it be me as to be honest as I get older I like my own company more and more. Of course what I really meant was could it be my Mistress and me. It turns out it can’t as the plan is to take me to see my family and they can’t do that without me. Ari has been excited about going on his first holiday so he doesn’t want to be left out, which means Shadow is sulking, but then she did go last year and gets to travel much more than the rest of us.
