Last night Megan was quite noisy in the night. My Mistress thought it was just because it was so windy and didn’t get up to see what the problem was. When my Mistress came down in the morning she found Megan sitting on the settee rather than being in her crate where she should have been. When my Master came down, my Mistress asked if he’d remembered to put Megan to bed the previous night. She said it looked as though he’d closed the door up but without a dog being on the inside. My Master scratched his head, you could see he was trying to remember what actually happened. It all seemed very funny…until later. When my Mistress had to go to her physiotherapy appointment she put Megan in her crate and went to sort Shadow out. She came back to find Megan stuck, half in and half out of her crate, surprised to have been caught. She had undone one of the side clips, just far enough to pull it back and squeeze through the gap. It turns out that she had been put to bed last night, but got up again when my master had left the room. The clip has been done up very firmly and will be checked at regular intervals. You could say that Megan was more intelligent than Ari. He dismantled it completely which gave the game away first time he did it. With Megan she was much more subtle and if she’d waited for my Mistress to go out she might even have got away with it a second time. I wonder if she’d have been smart enough to let herself back in before my Mistress came back through the door.
We have found the downside of next door’s trees being reduced in size. We are on the top of the hill and it is windy, very windy and the trees no longer act as a wind break. I suppose everything comes at a cost.
