Thursday 28th February 2013 – An only dog

The last few weeks have been very strange. First there were four of us, then Megan went to Switzerland. It reminds me a little bit of the song ‘there were four in the bed’, except in our case no one said roll over and no one fell out. Anyway, we were down to three. Then yesterday both Aristotle and Shadow went to kennels so that my Mistress would not have to worry about either one of them jumping up and hitting her newly operated on hand. It seems I am the only one who can be trusted not to jump around. To be fair, I’m more likely to be found lying down than jumping anywhere. What it does mean is that it falls upon me to look after my Mistress for the next couple of days until the other two come back from kennels. I shall be taking my duties very seriously when my Mistress comes back from hospital later. My plan is to get her to go back to bed so that I can curl up with her for an afternoon nap. As far as I know, her plan is to be back at her desk working one-handed. I suppose in part it will depend how heavily she has been sedated.

She has had the sense to invest in some voice recognition software, however although it is relatively easy to use, she is having repeated differences of opinion particularly over matters of spelling, grammar and punctuation. You may think that grammar should not be a problem, but she has to think differently to speak than to write. Funny really. It is not clear what commands should be used for some things and then there are the words that the software wants to hyphenate but my Mistress does not. At least it is not as bad as the auto correct on her phone which changes whole words including turning Tesco into Trevor!
