Sunday 17th February 2013 – A lovely day

Yesterday was a lovely day. Not only were my Master and Mistress here but so were James and Andy. The sun was shining and we got chance to spend time playing outside as well as curling up happy and contented on the settee, knowing all was right with the world. James is earning money to pay for driving lessons by doing all the jobs my Mistress has been worrying about but not getting round to. He did a great job, which meant that my Mistress was in a good mood too. He’s working again today so I am hoping the good mood will continue. Also planned for today is a marmalade making session with a different recipe to last time. My Mistress is fed up with needing a hacksaw to get the marmalade out of the jar, which always seems to happen when she uses muscavado sugar in the recipe. Today she is planning to cook a batch that will be rather more runny than the last lot, which wouldn’t be difficult.

Shadow seems to be shrinking. With Aristotle almost as big as me, Shadow now looks positively tiny in comparison. She has lost some weight too, so there doesn’t seem to be very much of her. She’s still the boss though and has no problem keeping us in line. It does seem quiet without Megan. It really does seem as though we are more than one dog missing.

My Mistress has decided to read the entire works of Terry Pratchett in order. To be fair, she’s going to listen to many of them rather than read them. She loves listening to audio books and said she thought it would be fun to understand how his writing has developed over the last forty years. Only a writer could want to analyse them to that extent! I just want to sit back and enjoy the story.
