My mistress has summed her life up now as being mainly about dog poo. Cleaning up after 3 of us is normally bad enough, but now she is cleaning up after 10. With the puppies it definitely seems to be that no sooner has she turned her back than another one goes. It’s quite entertaining to watch and I have threatened to film her in her more frustrated moments rather than the puppies. It’s fair to say she has seen 5.30am a lot more often than she has previously. I suppose having said that the same could be said for any of 3.30 or 4.30 too.
From their behaviour, we think the puppies are about ready to move into the playpen for some of the time. Although from observation I think they may have preferred us to provide a puppy assault course rather than the squeaky toys and balls they can look forward to. We’ll finish getting ‘the nursery’ ready for them. The only thing left to do is to tie some of the toys to the sides so that they don’t end up being covered in any form of unpleasantness. It doesn’t matter for the ones that can be easily washed, but for the ones that are not designed for that it is best they are protected. I can’t wait to be ready with my camera to record their first reactions to their new environment.
We are running desperately short of newspapers. A friend in the village thought she had some, but it turns out her husband has taken them for recycling. He helpfully said that if we go to the recycling bin at the village hall they are easy to take out again. It feels a bit odd going and taking things from the recycling bins. I think my Mistress may go under cover of darkness in the hope she doesn’t get seen. She may not appreciate that I’ve told you what she’s planning to do!
Today’s video shows the manic frenzy when they are put in with their mum for some milk. There is no sound today as they were quite quiet and determined and you would have heard the rain and washing machine in the background.. The video is here.
It looks like Shadow is under attack – attack of the hungry pups 🙂
