Thursday 4th September 2014 – Crossing my paws

Shadow said she wasn’t feeling so good again yesterday. I’m just hoping she is ok today. Apart from that yesterday was a good day. I had a nice quiet time while both Ari and Shadow had their eye tests. Ari’s are completely clear, which is ironic as he can’t breed for other reasons. Shadow’s have thankfully not changed so she is clear to have her final litter when she next comes into season. My Mistress was very relieved about that as there is such a great demand compared to the number of available puppies. Now she just needs to agree which stud dog Shadow will go to and that will be worked out while we are in Switzerland next week.

Whilst they were at the vet’s they were initially the only ones in a very big waiting room by reception. Unfortunately that meant both Ari and Shadow decided they needed to guard it against all comers. It wouldn’t have been so bad, but Ari did rather scare the poor man who’d come to see his wife because she had collapsed and was about to be taken away by ambulance. You can take being a watch dog too far!

We also got our letter from the Kennel Club following our Assured Breeder visit a few weeks ago. I’m pleased to say we passed with flying colours so that is one less thing to be worrying about. It was a good day really, on top of everything else my Mistress won a first aid kit from our vets in a competition. She says it is probably the most useful prize she could win and has put it into the car so that it is always with us. She has asked us all not to demand it be used too soon, or ever if it all possible.

By the time she got back from driving all the way to Solihull and back our Mistress was very tired, whereas having sat in the car doing nothing all day, Aristotle was full of bounce. It wasn’t a great combination and tempers were a little fraught. I suggested an early night, but I was outvoted. Ari suggested a long bracing walk, but he was outvoted as well.
