Thursday 19th June 2014 – Thank You for the Advice

I’d like to thank those of you who suggested I might eat my chew in peace if I took it to another room where Shadow was not present. If only it were that simple. She knows if I have so much as licked it. I dare not go near it. She counts her chews at regular intervals and makes sure they are exactly as she left them and wow betides anyone who has interfered with them in the meantime. When she can she rounds them up and keeps them near her so that they can’t be interfered with, she’s just that kind of dog.

Very sadly, we’ve had another bird fatality. That is three that have flown into the same window and stunned themselves beyond repair. It’s very odd as the window has not moved and it’s never happened before. My Mistress is thinking she may have to invest in some means of making it clearer to bids that there is a solid object there. It’s a beautiful picture window and she doesn’t want to do anything that spoils our view out and all the lovely natural light, but she doesn’t like being the cause of death in birds. This one wasn’t even fully grown, poor thing.

My Mistress is at the doctor’s today about her swollen thyroid. We’re crossing our paws and waiting to hear how she gets on. What is really worrying her is that it is only two weeks to her trip to America and she doesn’t want to be ill for that. She visited the New England Medical Centre on a previous trip and she really doesn’t want to see inside any more American hospitals. That was before I was around to look after her, not that I will be there will her if anything goes wrong.
