My Mistress’s trips to mate Shadow are always more eventful than she expects and this is no exception. She has visited her first Swiss doctor for humans. Obviously, she’s been to the vet on many occasions but this time it is she who needs the treatment. She has bronchitis and a chest infection so has been packed off with antibiotics in the hope she will be on her way to recovery quite soon. It is probably as well that Shadow’s season is following a slightly different pattern this time and she is not ready to mate today. The vet seemed to suggest from the progesterone test that it could be into next week, but neither my Mistress or her Swiss friend are quite convinced of that right now. Shadow is having another test today but my Mistress is preparing to travel tomorrow in case this test shows she is ready. She is still planning to be back when she originally told me so I haven’t despaired that my kennel stay will be extended just yet. It’s all a bit of a waiting game and there really is no point in trying to do things too soon or there won’t be any puppies at all. What it does mean is that the risk of them being born on Christmas day has reduced and we might even get my Master’s birthday out of the way too. We will only really know when we see what happens. Aristotle is very excited as Shadow has been told that if for any reason she and Falk don’t like each other she can go back to see Rino, who is Aristotle’s father. He’s now crossing his paws in the hope he has a litter of full brothers and sisters to look forward to.
