I hate saying goodbye to my Mistress even when it’s only for a week. Aristotle and I have to go into kennels for the week and it’s just not the same as being at home. I said if I stayed at home I could help look after the decorator while he’s here. I can make cups of tea as well as the next dog, but my Mistress said that it was best we went to kennels so that is what is happening. Ari doesn’t know which bed he wants to pack. I said he should make his mind up quickly or he wouldn’t get any choice in the matter. In any case, my Mistress won’t let him take his good bed anymore since the time our beds came back looking a little the worse for wear because of our antics. Even my bed got torn and I’ve had mine since puppyhood. I think he’s planning to pack an antler and a bone to give him some variety and he asked if he took a tug toy would I play with him. I sighed deeply and said if he must! He’s asked if he can spend today with Megan as he’s not going to see her for a long time. The only problem with that is that they need supervising and that means spending the day with our Mistress, but I want to do that as I won’t see her for over a week. It’s all so complicated.
My Mistress is being considerate and not getting her suitcase out too soon as she knows how upset it makes me. I know she’s going away even without the suitcase, but it’s nice that she’s taking my feelings into account. I do get very clingy when she starts packing and then just get in the way.

Dear Alfie, You will miss your mistress for a whole week. Perhaps sitting in the suitcase might stop her! Our Maine Coon, Finn, tries that every time we leave. When it does not work he sits forlornly by the front door to say goodbye. Good luck this week and think of all the love when your mistress comes home. Jeff Williams
