I always knew it was going to take a while for everything to settle down again now that Megan is home, but I’m not finding it easy. I’m staying out of the way for most of it, but showing my frustration in little ways, like eating the sandwich off the kitchen table in the 5 seconds it took for Andy to leave the computer and come to the table. I may be older but I’m still fast when it really matters. Anyway, the day started with Shadow waiting outside Megan’s crate for her to get out so she could go straight on the attack. Before Megan had even had chance to yawn and stretch Shadow had made sure she knew who was top dog and given her a bloody ear in the process. Megan is feeling a bit insecure and wanting lots of hugs. It’s not helped by the fact she’s in the hormonal cycle leading up to her season and she’s always more in need of love then. The biggest problem, once breakfast was out of the way, was the amount of barking between Aristotle and Megan. It wasn’t so bad after my Mistress had taken Megan for a long walk and reinstated the tin of stones to be shaken when the barking started. By the time we all sat down to watch the tennis things had settled down and I was allowed to sit next to my Mistress on the settee while the others all sat on the floor, so it turned out better than I had expected. It’s going to be a while before everything is normal again and I’m hoping there aren’t too many injuries inflicted in the process and ideally none to me!
Of course sitting on the settee while my Mistress has the laptop on her knee led to a comment you don’t hear very often ‘Will you please take your ear off the keyboard, Alfie?’
