Waving my Mistress off this morning was very emotional. We all kept running back inside and coming out with something she might find useful for the journey. For the most part they were silly little things but we all wanted to find ways of showing our support and wishing her well. She still hasn’t completely recovered from the last trip, so we are all a bit worried about her. She has promised that when she comes back next week we can all have a lazy time together not really doing any work or worrying about anything for a few days. It has been explained to Megan that Shadow will need to rest and can’t take part in their usual fun and games. Frankly, I don’t think Megan was really listening. My Mistress says she will start taking Megan for an extra daily walk to help compensate. We are also going to spend some time outside together getting on top of the gardening, which will be a good way for my Mistress to unwind.
The most exciting thing, other than the puppies being born here which is way off the scale of excitement, is that all our work plans can get back on track and my Mistress can start editing my woodland stories with me. I know it’s selfish of me to care about something so unimportant, but having a book published has slightly gone to my head and I’m looking forward to seeing my name in print for a second time.
For the time being I am going to amuse myself by looking at all the things I want to buy ready for the puppies arrivals. I’m particularly taken by the set of tiny collars in different colours so that you can tell which one is which. I’m sure Shadow will be able to tell them apart but I’m worried that while they are little I may not find it quite so easy.
