Our worst nightmare is now a reality. Shadow’s chip cannot be read. She will not be allowed to come home and sleep in her own room again until January. I can’t even begin to tell you the state my Mistress is in. There are so many decisions to be taken and so many things that need to be arranged. It wouldn’t be so bad, but my Mistress really isn’t very well on top of everything else. I think all the travelling was a bit too much for her and now the stress on top of it all. There is some pressure to bring Shadow back into quarantine kennels in England, but my Mistress can’t bear the thought of Shadow having to give birth in kennels and potentially all on her own. Her plan is to be by Shadow’s side throughout. There are so many things we are having to find out about and all we really want to do is hug each other and have a good cry.
Life is being made more difficult because Megan has decided she wants my Mistress all to herself and of course that can’t happen, she’s my Mistress and has been for a long time. I do back off when Megan is really horrible to me, but it’s making me quite sad and upsetting my Mistress too.
Life just feels all the wrong shape right now and none of us knows quite what to do. We want to fix it, but can’t. Our friends and family are being lovely, but none of that makes the problem go away. My Mistress is even trying to get in touch with the national newspapers to see if they want to cover our story. It is so unusual and she feels that people need to be more aware of the fact that chips can fail, even though they are sold on the basis of lasting more than the lifetime of a dog.
