Now when I’m talking about tweeting I’m not talking about the Internet. Our Mistress went up into the loft to check on the mouse situation yesterday (and by the way we’ve had no more problems since catching Mickey and Minnie a while ago), and while she was up there she could hear lots of baby tweet coming from the swallows’ nest. I got all excited thinking it was good news about the swallows, but sadly it’s not. It turns out that sparrows have taken over the nest. Our Mistress was reading up on it and apparently it’s quite a common thing. The only good news is that in our case the sparrows did not kill the swallows in the process. That would have made us very sad. Nature can be a very cruel place. It also said that swallows don’t often go back to the same nest, so I took some comfort from that that our swallows might be all right, but just living somewhere else.
The spikes have arrived for the roof to stop the crow. The funny thing is though, with the weather being so dull the crow hasn’t been bothering getting up so early and hasn’t started pecking until later in the day. He’s not gone away, that would have been too much to hope, but at least it gives our Mistress chance to get the spikes up to try to stop him altogether. She’s hoping that the sealant that she’s got that can be used to fix them hasn’t dried up. She’s got to go out and find it in the garage. I’m betting on that being closely followed by a trip to the DIY store! She doesn’t want to use a permanent fixer as if the spikes don’t work she’d like to be able to take them down again. I’m betting on that plan not working either!
