Sunday 5th April 2015 – Different Ideas

It turns out that the rest of the family frowns on the idea of my being a perpetual Playdog. Apparently the fact that I was expecting them to foot the bill for my lifestyle is not acceptable and despite my arguments I am expected to do something useful now I’m an adult. I pointed out that I already work part time covering for Alfie at weekends, but from the response I got that is not enough and I’m expected to work full time. What strikes me as odd is that Alfie as a full time writer doesn’t earn very much and that was acceptable, Shadow with her having puppies isn’t really making any money and that’s acceptable so why is it that I have to find a proper career? I’d probably quite like to be an assistance dog as that would mean being close to my human all the time, as long as my Mistress was that human. Maybe I’ll turn my mind to the little jobs I could actually do for her, fetching and carrying for example. I do try to do the washing up, although my Master insists on doing it again when I’ve finished, which doesn’t really inspire my confidence in my work. I wonder if we could develop our own range of dog biscuits with me as taster and maybe suggesting flavours we could try. That’s what I’m going to do today, I’m going to think of flavours we could combine to make biscuits. I wonder if steak biscuits would work? We could certainly use some bacon fat in them that would taste yummy. Maybe I could start with bacon and carrot, they’re some of my favourite foods, although I don’t think I’ve ever really tried them together. I’m off to the kitchen to see what I can find.
