Taking Christmas seriously
Mum seems to be taking Christmas seriously. I may need an escape plan. Yesterday the first lights went up. Her target was to get 1000 up, but worryingly she didn’t stop there. She managed to get 1500 up and said it was easier having learnt some lessons from last year. The lesson she doesn’t seem to have learned is don’t put up 3000 Christmas lights! I shouldn’t really complain as we all get to spend lots of time outdoors, which is always better than being at the desk.
Today as long as it stays dry the other 1500 lights will go up. Mum was a little disappointed when she realised she’d forgotten to buy the batteries she needs, but she’s got enough to test them before they go up and it will stop her feeling tempted to turn them on sooner than intended. I’ve put my paw down and said that however much she wants to she can’t have them on before the beginning of December.
Tap dancing
I spoke too soon about the herbal calmers. They are helping Shadow and she is sleeping very well during the day. However she spent another night tap dancing around the bedroom driving me and Mum completely bonkers. Mum is wondering if she needs to bring Shadow’s check up forward from the end of the month, but is going to see how the weekend goes. Maybe all the fresh air she’ll get today will help, if only because she will need to wait until later to sleep.
As an alternative I’ve offered to prod Shadow at intervals through the day so she can’t sleep, but Mum said she didn’t think that would go down very well. Ari does that to his mum most of the time, but she doesn’t appreciate that either.
