Hatton Locks – Monday 17th October 2022

Hatton Locks

Yesterday we went to Hatton Locks. It was after something my human aunt said that I asked Mum if we could go there. Mum said it might be busy on a Sunday so I did that whole soulful eyes things and she gave in. Now, to be fair, it was a bit on the peopley side. That’s not something I mind, but Mum finds it hard. However, it was lovely and well worth it. There is a car park for which there is a small charge. Don’t let your human try the ring and pay thing as you may have to put up with them swearing. Just send them to the machine, or offer to go yourself. It’s far quicker.

Stairway to heaven

On their website they describe the long flight of locks as the stairway to heaven. Frankly, I think that might be a bit of an exaggeration as I didn’t see any angels about, except for me of course. There are locks and locks and more locks, as far as the eye can see. Mum said she was glad she was walking and not trying to take a boat through them all.

The paths are good and there are dog bins along the way. We just walked a couple of miles but you can do quite a long stretch of the canal. Mum has promised that we can do it again when Dad is home and try to walk to Warwick Parkway Station and back.

Café

There is a café at the top if you want a drink, but we didn’t go to investigate.

The path is quite steep in places, as you would imagine given how many locks they need to move the boats up and down.

Given it’s only ten minutes from where we live, that’s another walk added to our list to go back to.

Love
