Burton Dassett for Walkies
I’m off to meet a new friend today. We are going to Burton Dassett for walkies. I’ve been there once before and really like it. There’s sheep poo! Obviously there are sheep as well, but I’m more interested in what they’ve left behind. I’m meeting a girl called Freya who’s only nine months old so may be very full of energy. She moved here from Germany earlier in the year. Shadow and Ari say they wish they were coming, but neither of them are really much good at walking these days, so there really isn’t any point. I’ve promised to tell them about it when I get back and of course I know they will be giving me a good sniff to find out the details I’ve left out.
Garden walk
For emergencies during our walking challenge, Mum has measured our back garden. In the event of not going out, we will do enough circuits of the garden to keep our total walking distance up. I think that’s for the days she doesn’t feel like changing out of her pyjamas, but don’t tell her I said that. At least it is fewer circuits than it used to be at our old house. Walking around the garden there felt very tedious after a while, at least to me. Mum has already realised that if we do use the garden circuit I may need my lead on so I don’t just find an apple to enjoy eating while I watch her going round.
The orchard
It’s weird, I can’t believe how much lighter the orchard seems now they have pruned the wild plum trees. It’s funny, it has made it quite different down there. On the downside it is harder to hide from Mum, but we don’t really want to do that very often, so it’s not a big deal. Mum is going to trim the hedges down there too now, so it will be even tidier.
Love
