A Quiet day – Monday 11th April 2022

A Quiet Day

Yesterday turned out to be a quiet day in every sense of the words. It turns out after a long day in the garden we all fancy a bit of a rest. Poor old Shadow was struggling to get up as her hips were hurting after all the exercise. Ari said he needed a bit of a rest too. I, on the other paw, kept asking what we were doing next. I helped Mum while the others found quiet corners indoors for a snooze. The best bit was that although Mum had carefully buried the rest of the rotten apples in the compost heap some of the local wildlife came overnight and dug them all up for us. When we went out they were on the grass ready and waiting to be eaten. Mum was not happy.

She was even less happy when Ari started eating fox poo. You should have heard her. That got cleaned up pretty sharpish I can tell you.

Needing to be patient

Ari needs to be patient and wait for a swimming appointment. He is on a waiting list and should have a place to try the nearest pool in about five weeks. The only problem is that it’s a much smaller pool than he’s used to so he’s going to be doing a lot of turning around. Mum says we’ll have to see if it is big enough to be worth him going. Hopefully it will help him.

It wasn’t grass

Now one of the jobs Mum and I had to do yesterday was to move a pile of what Mum thought were grass cuttings to add them to the skip. Except as it turned out it wasn’t grass cuttings. In my opinion it was much more interesting. In Mum’s – not so much! It was the waste straw that had been down for the pigs when the woman who lived here before had them – or so we think. Mum was less than impressed, although had to begrudgingly accept it will make good compost when fully decomposed. We moved two barrow-loads of it to the compost heap, but she said she will have to do the rest of the pile another day. It’s going to take a number more barrowsfull before we finish!
