More Pet Passport Information
We have some more Pet Passport Information. This time it is good news. Despite the wording of the EU regulation, a dog is not regarded as being ‘resident’ in a particular place. According to the DEFRA helpline as long as you have a passport issued in an EU country or Switzerland, which is up to date with the appropriate rabies vaccination, then it will be valid. Having a UK address will not prevent it being accepted. That is very good news for the travelling dog who doesn’t have multiple homes to choose from.
Your rabies vaccination must be done by an EU recognised vet, so can’t be done or updated in the UK. That means you do need to organise all your rabies vaccinations or boosters to be put into your passport by a vet in an EU country or Switzerland.
Of course, it’s important to keep your vaccination up to date so you may need to plan ahead.
Day out
We had a lot of time in the car yesterday, not helped by motorway delays. It was amazing how tired we all were by the time we got home. We did have a good run around the garden to let off a bit of steam, but honestly even I was ready for my bed.
Today promises to be a little more exciting as I’m going to be helping harvesting apples. I’ve been really looking forward to this. I see it more as an all I can eat buffet. As long as I take the ones I’m eating round the side of the house then no one need be any the wiser. As long as Ari doesn’t rat on me, I’ll be fine. He may go all ‘good dog’ on me and actually help.
Love
