Weird around here – Tuesday 15th June 2021

Weird around here

It feels like life suddenly got weird around here. Dad has been doing a lot of packing his things in boxes. When the move takes place he won’t be around, good planning or what? Oh don’t get me wrong, it’s not his fault and if it weren’t for covid and all the quarantining, he’d be back to help. The problem is that it’s hard to plan for something that you don’t know when it will be and, when you have to quarantine for ten days at both ends of your journey, you can’t exactly do a weekend trip in the way you used to.

Then there’s us

The other weird thing is us. We have been used to being at home with Mum all day every day. She hasn’t been anywhere for so long, we’d forgotten that she ever used to go out. It’s been over eighteen months since she broke her ankle and our world stopped. When you think about it when you aren’t even six years old yet (I will be next month), eighteen months is a long time. It’s a quarter of my life. Anyway, now, all of a sudden there are places she needs to go and it’s weird. Shadow and Aristotle came home from kennels yesterday and now we’ve all got to spend a day or so there from tomorrow. I’m quite looking forward to seeing other dogs, but I do worry about Mum being without me.

New Normal Again

Mum has promised a new normal for a while from Thursday. I do hope she’s right. The three of us start misbehaving when we feel unsettled and don’t really know what to expect. Mum says if it makes me feel any better, she rarely knows what to expect around here either.

Love
