Too much excitement
There is such a thing in life as too much excitement and I have to say that watching Dad using a circular saw definitely falls into that category. He likes having power tools, he just doesn’t use them very often. Yesterday he had an opportunity. Despite Mum suggesting various low tech ways to solve the problem, Dad was determined the circular saw was the only possibility.
He’s owned the saw for years. It was pristine and still in its unopened box. You get the picture. Thankfully, Dad is very safety conscious so he does do everything carefully. The only injuries were the piece of wood which fell on Mum’s foot and Dad hitting his head on the car.
End result
The end result was that while we just watched and occasionally barked unhelpful suggestions, the leaking barrel and old pallet were reduced to a size which would go into the car. The funniest bit was that none of us could work out how to get the saw back into its box. It came out, it must go in. Dad tried several ways around. Mum tried several ways around. We looked on and barked unhelpful suggestions. In the end Dad found a video on YouTube. It was as good as any puzzle to keep us entertained.
On the bright side
On the bright side, when we had finished being unhelpful, we did get to have a nice walk. We went to one of the other places Dad has always liked. It’s starting to make me realise just how much I’m going to miss some of the places around here when we move. Mum and I will still have some chances to go to them again in the coming weeks, so I just need to make sure I get her to come with me. Then of course when we do move there will be a whole new adventure of finding places to go.
