The New Quilt – Wednesday 17th February 2021

The New Quilt

The new quilt is on the bed and already it has led to an argument. Mum bought it to stop us fighting about who had too much of the duvet. She claimed I pulled it over to my side. I said she pulled it to hers. Buying a bigger quilt was supposed to stop us ever arguing about the quilt again. The quilt is soft and snuggly and cosy and that’s the problem. Mum wasn’t feeling so good when she went to bed so said she wanted the bed to herself. She told me to go and get into my own bed. That was when the argument started.

“If you think I’m getting off this wonderful quilt you’ve got another think coming,” was what I said to Mum. I can’t actually repeat to you what she said to me.

Stubborn

By now, if you’ve been paying attention, you will have got to know our breed quite well. Needless to say, I didn’t get off the new quilt. We did reach a small compromise and I moved over a bit to give her more room. I thought that was pretty unreasonable on her part if I’m being honest. However, I did not get off the bed.

I find in these circumstances turning my big brown eyes in her direction with a fake pathetic look, works a treat. On the good side, by the time she had melted and told me I could stay, she was feeling a bit better too. Job done.

Gardening Again

Ari is happy about the better weather as it means he can help with the gardening again. Mum was sorting out the vegetable troughs yesterday ready to start planting for this year. When she turned round he was helping himself to parsnips out of a bucket, where she was putting the really small ones she found. Mum is despairing as he’ll make himself ill. I’m simply in awe at his audacity.
