Hot hot hot – Sunday 22nd September 2019

Hot hot hot

Yesterday we were all feeling hot hot hot. I don’t think Mum had Dad had fully thought through the whole weather thing. Dad had forgotten a hat for a start, which was not a good idea. It was 25 degrees and when we all arrived we dogs wanted to play ball, as you would expect. The humans only let us play for a short while as it was just too hot for those who don’t have the sense to stop. I had a good run and did enjoy it, but was quite ready to move around a little more steadily. Mum made sure I drank loads of water to keep me hydrated, then realised she hadn’t drunk enough so went inside for a while to get a drink and recover a bit. Humans need to be just as sensible as they expect us to be.

Rally-O

We played a number of games, including a Rally-O course. It’s sort of a cross between agility and obedience. I did ok, but by that stage the problem for Mum in keeping me focussed was that other humans had dropped treats and would you believe the other dogs had missed some of them? Anyway, I say it was my duty, being a scavenging sort of a girl, to go round and find them all, which meant our overall time was a bit slow. Mum did make me do all the exercises correctly though.

Prizes

I came home with two certificates, which is a record for me. The team I was in won the ‘leapfrog down’ and I was runner up in the longest stay. It was only when they said that the only way to split me and Ruby on the stay was for our humans to go out of sight. What were they thinking? I would never allow my human to go off on her own, she’s just not safe. Apparently I wasn’t supposed to worry about her at that moment, but of course I did. It meant that Ruby won, but the way I see it I was doing my job of looking after my human to the best of my ability and I shouldn’t have been faulted for that.

River Walks

On top of all that I had two lovely walks along by the river. Mum got up in time to take me for a lovely sunny morning stroll and then both she and Dad came with me again in the evening. I love being able to make the most of sunny weather.

Love
