Odd Christmas
Well it has been a very odd Christmas this end. You wouldn’t believe the number of things which can happen. Firstly, Granny and Grandpa’s turkey had gone off. It really didn’t smell very nice at all. Fortunately, we got there on Christmas eve and found out before the shops had shut, so Mum did an emergency trip to Sainsbury’s to get a replacement.
Then on Christmas morning we found we’d left something important at home. Home was now 126 miles away. As soon as we got up, Mum and I drove all the way back to Yorkshire to collect it before then getting back to my grandparents to cook lunch 250 miles later. Then just for good measure, Mum scalded her hand on the kettle. She says it’s ok, just really sore, but she wishes she hadn’t done it. To be honest, after all that she’d had enough.
Family
After that we had to drive again to visit my other grandparents. Anyway, that’s what Christmas is all about isn’t it, spending all day in the car driving. I did have a little walk by the Embankment in Bedford, but that’s never quite the same when my friend Koppa isn’t there to join me for it. Hopefully I can have a walk across the fields today. It will make up a bit for yesterday when Mum had promised to take me to Bradgate Park and then couldn’t. It’s actually Dad’s birthday today, so I guess there will be present opening too. I don’t think there will be any for me today. I’m sure Dad will share whatever he does have though, so it won’t be too bad.
How was your Christmas? I hope it was a bit of quieter than ours was. Now I’m looking forward to a few days that are a little bit less crazy, give or take driving to Switzerland.

Hi Wilma, firstly HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your Dad. We had a funny day yesterday but not as bad as yours! There were lots of preparations but nothing happened. I was ready to bark when everyone came but no one did. Anyway, I am told all the family are coming today. Dilys and I have our quiet dens ready so we can opt out when necessary. Ruby is walking about now and it makes me a bit nervous. And guess what there is another baby on the way! Not until April so I have time to get used to the idea, and the buggy, cot etc. Hope you all a nice time today. Love Dickens XXXXXX
Oh Dickens, you aren’t going to believe this, but Mum has forgotten to buy Dad a card! Anyway, have fun with the little people. I quite like little people they can be very cute. I still bounce far more than they do though.
Have a lovely day
Love
Wilma
