Teeth – Wednesday 21st February 2018

Teeth

We have good news on Alfie. The vet found the cause of the abscess and it was his teeth. He has had to have at least one removed, which had a very deep root. His operation was quite late in the day yesterday so he had to stay in hospital overnight. We cannot get another update just yet, but Mum is hoping to go and pick him up just as soon as they say he can be collected. He was too groggy to talk to me when I rang, but it’s good to know that he should be all right.

A lesson to us all

The rest of us are asking Mum to buy us each our own toothbrush. To be fair, Alfie does have a toothbrush and toothpaste, but I’m not sure he’s been using it as often as he should. Mum says that he finds the very back ones quite difficult to get the brush to, but he probably wishes he’d tried harder. I know these things don’t make any real difference, but I’ve asked for a pink toothbrush. I was also wondering if I could get some cheese flavoured toothpaste instead of meat.

Stressful

It was really stressful waiting with Mum yesterday while Alfie was at the vet. It was bad enough worrying about Alfie, but waiting with Mum was awful. She was clearly worried, but it meant she spent the day doing everything at double pace. I was worn out just watching her.  At least she will relax again when Alfie is back safe and sound. I don’t suppose he will want much fuss for a day or two, but then hopefully he will be back to his old self and better than he’s been for the last three months. That will be good.

On his behalf I’d like to thank you all for your good wishes. It means a lot to us all.

Love

Wilma

  1. We are so pleased to hear that Alfie is OK. I am sorry I did not write yesterday but I did have my paws crossed. Things are tricky here these days as the two old beagles are up in the night and I keep my eye on them for Mum and give her a shout if they need to go to the garden but when it is time to get up and read the news I am fast asleep!
Sending lots of love to you all

    • Oh dear. Mum understands that problem. We never get through a whole night this end. She is tired quite a lot too. I’ll pass your good wishes to Alfie. We’ll be happy to have him home.

  2. So pleased to hear Alfie is doing well. Sending lots of cuddles. Sammi sends lots of licks. Look after him Wilma he will need pampering for awhile. xxxxxx

  3. Hope Alfie is feeling much better soon . Going to make sure I use my toothbrush more often, I just need to stop eating the toothpaste before the brushing starts and then I am sure mum and I will make better progress !!! When you have taken care of Alfie Wilma, let me know if you are up for a play date. Mum and dad took me to Rawcliffe park recently where we did a lovely walk, bit muddy , but lots of fun . Love Bernie xx

    • Oh Bernie I would love to come out to play soon. Things have been chaotic here as you will read tomorrow. When Dad starts his new job Mum will need cheering up so we can get her to bring me then.
      Love Wilma
