Monday 29th January 2018 – Why don’t humans like manure?

It’s a question I’ve been meaning to ask for a while. Why is it that humans don’t like manure. It came to mind more as a matter of compost than manure, to be fair. I gave Mum a great big kiss yesterday and you’d think she’d be grateful. Oddly she made a funny ungrateful noise and backed away. She said I smelled like the compost bin. Duh! Where did she think I’d just been digging? Anyway, it got me to thinking about the times I run into the pile of chicken manure we pass on our walk, or find a bit of savoury fox poo. Never is she pleased about it. Not once has she said ‘Oh how wonderful, come and share it with me.’ I just don’t get it. Manure and compost have great nutrients and are really very tasty. Humans must understand that in principle as they put them on the ground to help the plants grow. So why are they so reluctant to try eating it yourselves? It’s odd. I see humans with all sorts of containers of vitamins and supplements to help give them all the things they are missing. They take them in really boring tablets, which don’t really smell or taste of anything and think that is preferable to a good tasty mouthful of manure. I have offered to show Mum where to find the best bits. I’ve offered to teach her the difference in the different types and to teach her how to roll in it for good measure, but she just does not want to learn. I’m a persistent dog and I’m not going to give up. I’m thinking if I keep trying to share what I’ve got with her she’s bound to come round in the end. It’s all just a matter of time.

Have a great Monday

Love
