Friday 15th September 2017 – Wilma’s Friday Flashback

It’s Friday so Alfie has the day off. He’s not feeling too good anyway, so a long weekend off work won’t do him any harm. I on the other paw feel fantastic and have recovered very well from my operation.

Anyway, given we are only a few days from Aristotle’s sixth birthday I thought it would be fun to look back to the year he was born. Here is some of what Alfie wrote:

2011

Sleepy Aristotle
Aristotle a few days old

I now have Shadow’s cold, which probably means Megan will go down with it next. My Mistress is desperate to get the house clear of infection for the puppies arriving and has threatened that if she has any doubts we will either be confined to a different part of the house or packed off to kennels. Between that and the fact that she may have snapped her tendon and has to see a specialist tomorrow to see if they need to operate on it, things are not going according to plan. In our preparations we thought we had covered most things. The delivery room is all but ready, but as it turns out there were eventualities we hadn’t thought of. It makes you realise why the quote from Burns that ‘the best laid plans of

Aristotle now

mice and men…’ became so famous. What I have realised as a result of all this is that he didn’t need to pick on mice, he could equally well have chosen dogs.

It was then funny to look ahead a year to find that Shadow was at the start of the adventure of her next litter:

2012

Shadow had her blood test yesterday and is now on her way to meet her boyfriend. It may be as soon as Sunday that they get together, but more likely Monday. It’s all very exciting. I must admit to having a tear in my eye as I waved her off this morning, although that may have been as much about the fact that I’m going to miss my Mistress as all the excitement over Shadow. Both she and Megan have had their microchips checked to make sure they are working as they should. Hopefully neither of them will have a problem in the next few days. Anyway, they’ve gone and now I’m in charge.

Have a great Friday

Love

Wilma
