Thursday 20th October 2016 – Oh yes he is!

Shadow and Alfie

Actually the title should probably read ‘Oh yes SHE is!’ and I’m not talking about our Mistress. Those who have been reading my diary for a few years may have already realised we are back into pantomime rehearsal season again. This year the village panto is Cinderella and I’m proud to say our Master, having been type-cast as the baddy in recent years, is breaking out into the role of ugly sister. Our Mistress is actually glad that our Master does not take the same size shoes as she does. He’s getting very into the idea of accessories and suddenly seems converted to the whole shoe and handbag thing that seem to affect human women. Anyway, our Mistress thinks that he and the other ugly sister will make an excellent pairing and is very much looking forward to seeing them. We don’t actually get to go and see it and will have to make do with seeing the video afterwards. We do get to hear an alarming number of the songs in advance but I don’t think he has to sing quite so many this year, which is probably a blessing. The pantomime runs for the last two weeks of November and some of the performances have already sold out, so if you’re thinking of coming – now is the time to book. Oh no it isn’t! Oh yes it is!

Wilma is starting to have all her health tests in the hope she can get permission to breed. Next week she has to go to the vet’s for the day to have her hips x-rayed. One of her tests we still can’t get done in this country, so our Mistress is starting to work out when she can take her for a trip to have it done. Wilma’s quite excited about the thought of a little overseas travel, but it’s easier said than done to fit it in.
