Friday 26th August 2016 – Granny is the best

Dante

When you’re old and a bit confused I can honestly say there is no better feeling than having your granny giving you her undivided attention when you ask for it. I wish she could stay a lot longer rather than just a few days. I did wonder if she’d like to try playing ball inside with me, but our Mistress has rather put her foot down on that one. She has not only pointed out that when I get confused I might hurt granny, but that the chances are I’d break something around the house in the process. I can see her point, but with the rain we can’t really play outside either. Well, I guess would could one of us doesn’t mind the rain, but that’s not me and our Mistress says there is no point standing out there on her own. It seems to lose something in translation with only one of us playing.

Our Mistress is busy doing the final edit of her novel. She’s reading it out loud so that she can pick the errors up more easily. The problem is when she stops and we all want to know what happens next in the story. Those who have ready it so far seem to agree it’s the best thing she’s ever written so she’s looking forward to finding what the world at large think. Our Master is quite convinced that it will be turned into a film and he’ll be able to retire, but our Mistress is a little realistic. She did say if it went well she could really do with replacing her car, but even that might be overoptimistic in the world of writing. I did show her the article that said most writers don’t make more than about £4,000 a year from their writing and I told her I wasn’t even making that, but maybe she can get my share too.
