Tuesday 28th June 2016 – You can’t blame that on the dog

Alfie looking all gentle and sleepy

Now you may think I’m talking about the almighty mess that the United Kingdom now finds itself in and of course, you’d be right that you can’t blame that on the dog, but I was looking closer to home. I was thinking more in terms of the full mug of coffee that was sent flying across the desk by our mistress soaking everything from the computer keyboard to the papers to complete our Master’s income tax! I regret to say, there was so much coffee that not all the papers have survived and there is a mass of damp remnants of paper in the waste basket that is filling the office with the odour of coffee. By the time Wilma had finished licking the keyboard, I kid you not, it thankfully still worked. By the time Wilma had finished licking the floor, our Mistress had concluded she probably quite likes coffee and was starting to wonder if she might be a little hyperactive for dog training last night after all the caffeine. The papers, which could be salvaged, were hung around the office to dry and thankfully only a few of them are ones that actually need to be sent out to other people. When that happens, you just know that ‘the dog’ is going to get the blame, even though we were asleep on the settee when the incident occurred.

That was pretty much the highlight of yesterday. I guess Wilma might see the day a little differently. Not only did she discover why our Mistress likes coffee so much, but she also was given one of the new big chews that they bought at the pet shop on Sunday. In a dog’s life the little things like that can be very important. They also help to cushion the fact that you humans blame us for your mistakes!

  1. Haha Alfie, done it myself! Best fix for the keyboard is to pick up the keyboard, shake off excess, lay a towel on the desk & lay the poor keyboard face down on the towel to dry out! Mine lived from r many a long year after that!
