Now I’m really laughing. I get showered when I go swimming, so I’m all nice and clean all the time. Ok, I’ve got some stress dandruff but nothing too bad most of the time. However, I’m not the one going to the dog show. Our Mistress will have a shower in preparation, that goes without saying, but it’s Shadow and Wilma who have been invited for a wash. Shadow is pretty indignant. She says she’s got to seven years old without feeling the need to shower on a regular basis and she doesn’t see why she should start now. Apart from being washed down from a muddy walk, you could count the number of baths she’s had on one paw. In fact, it wouldn’t really need her toes to be counted separately. There was the one James gave her when she was a puppy, just for the fun of it. I can’t remember any others. She doesn’t even get that dirty when out walking and usually makes do with a quick rub down. She’s a bit indignant about the whole affair to be honest. Wilma is a different story altogether. She says she’s willing to wash in any muddy puddle they find while out walking and that mud is good for her complexion. What she is not so happy to do is voluntarily stand under a jet of clean water, even if it is warm. On the other paw, she did say if our Mistress fancied sharing a bubble bath with her then she was willing to give that a go as it looked fun. Our Mistress declined!
I’ve also been enjoying watching our Mistress do her annual sort out of her wardrobe. Every year she starts out saying ‘I’m going to throw away all the clothes that are past it and really have seen better days’ and every year she takes them off the shelf or rail and says ‘but I still like it and I can wear it for dog walking’. So everything is taken out … and everything is put back again and rarely if ever is anything actually thrown away!
