Friday 23rd October 2015 – Putting your foot in it

It’s funny how to get the best enjoyment out of their food the puppies seem to need to be

standing with one or more paws in it at the same time. They had their supper at just after 9pm last night and it was me that woke our Mistress at 2am saying it would be a good time for their next meal. I had two motivations. Firstly, Shadow was lying much too close to my bed and I was finding it stressful and wanted to sleep in the kitchen instead and secondly I thought the puppies might leave some and I was feeling a little peckish. I did sleep in the kitchen, but the puppies were hungry and ate almost everything. They were less impressed in the morning to have to wait until 7am for breakfast even though our Mistress had been up and about for an hour.

The downside of this five meals a day thing does seem to be that there is less left for me. I know that should not be my priority, but a dog’s got to get additional snacks where he can!

The pups are really starting to play for much longer now. It’s all very well but when you are waiting for them to go to sleep so you can weigh them easily it can be very annoying. However they get cuter by the day so you have to forgive them pretty quickly. They do all seem to be fitted with about the same length rechargeable batteries though and once one falls asleep the others follow almost immediately.

Everyone was eventually tracked down to the cow shed and lifted out for weighing. D’Artagnan is now 3050g an increase of 85g. Della is 2830g, an increase of 70g. Duchess is 2620g, an increase of 50g and Dixie is 2555g, an increase of 70g. Obviously moving to five meals has done no harm at all and they will hopefully be happy with the new arrangement.
