Cause for celebration

Shadow has managed to feed the pups for the whole of two consecutive meals. That is the first time with this litter that they have all been full and happy from feeding from her. Admittedly after that we were back to normal, but it was a start. They must be having a growing day too because they have been sleeping much more. They went for over two and a half hours at lunchtime. Little by little their eyes are opening and little blue eyes are peering out in an unfocussed way. It is not going to be long before they start to notice their surroundings and responding to noises too.

Today’s video is their after dinner trying to get comfortable … and whinging! To be fair they were fed up that their mum was back to not having enough milk and were pretty vocal about it, but they all had the opportunity of some extra. Duchess said she’d managed to get enough. D’Artagnan and Della were grateful for the help and only Dixie turned her little nose up and said it just wasn’t good enough. As a consolation our Mistress took her photo. Not much of a consolation but she’s only a pup and doesn’t know any better yet! You can see the video HERE

Our Mistress has been talking to the humans that the pups will go to live with about when they can come to visit their new family member. It’s an exciting time for everyone. It will be another couple of weeks before the puppies are allowed visitors, but once they are they will meet all sorts of people as part of their socialisation too. Shadow sometimes takes a bit of persuading that it’s ok for people to meet her children, but she can usually be bribed.
