Shadow has been checking out the preparations so far and giving our Mistress instructions on where she wants everything put. There is a way to go yet, but it’s starting to look more like it ought to. Our Mistress is making sure all the medical supplies are ready and in date and that she has what she needs to make milk replacer for the puppies if she needs to, although she is hoping for the first time to get away without. She has checked to make sure her new puppy scales are working and that everything is clean and disinfected and she has stuffed newspaper into all the places that might have given rise to a draught. She was joking that the utility is the one room of the house that gets a really thorough clean at intervals, although I don’t think she’s being entirely fair with that comment. Fortunately it was dry yesterday so she was able to finish bringing all the important bits up to the house. It was so funny watching Aristotle going round each in turn sniffing them and saying, ‘Do you remember…’ It took him straight back to puppy hood… not that any of us really thinks he’s left it!
To my annoyance our Mistress spotted that I was eating chews more slowly and realised my teeth need a good scrub. I’ve promised to cooperate as she’s threatened me with sedation at the vet if I don’t. I know it’s for my own good, but just at the moment my gums are a little sore and I’m finding it hard to see it as being in my interests.
Voting on the list of names has been continuing. Our Master has expressed some of his views too so we’re getting closer. He was disappointed that Dewdrop had been voted off as that was one of the few suggestions of his that our Mistress had allowed onto the list. However, in the latest round of voting Dagmar, Disraeli and Dandini have gone. Also in a small turn round, involving arguments about Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice and Darcey Bussell, who is apparently a ballerina, Darcy has moved to the girls list but in a pyrrhic victory our Mistress has kept the Mr Darcy spelling!
I think our Mistress plans to eliminate 2 boys names by tomorrow so we are down to 6 of each that can then be put in order.
