At last we really have good news. Yesterday Shadow mated with Max von der Auenrüti. Shadow was so happy. She had been to see the vet in the morning and she said she really had had enough of having blood taken for progesterone tests. She tried telling the vet she really didn’t want another and was shaking when he put the needle in. She said she didn’t need it, but you know what it’s like as a dog – no one listens to what you think. Anyway, she was very keen to go to see Max and when she did Max’s human said you only had to look at his eyes to know the timing was right. Anyway, by the end of it both Shadow and our Mistress were very happy and are now rather more confident that she may become pregnant. She will get the result of the progesterone test today and is also going back to see Max again. As long as all is well they will then start the journey home and will get back to England tomorrow. Shadow was very happy to put her paws up when it was all over and our Mistress had a celebratory glass of wine. Shadow can now look forward to being spoilt for weeks on end until the puppies arrive. Let’s be honest, she’ll be spoilt after that too, we all are!
Have I told you what my 10th birthday present is going to be? I’m having a trip to Switzerland if all goes to plan so that I can meet our new puppy before the others do. I’m really excited already, but of course there is a lot to happen before that. Ari says he should go as it will be his niece, but I was asked first so that’s just too bad.
