Yesterday Aristotle was caught red pawed. There he was sitting up next to one of the apple trees removing a lower branch so he could take it away and eat the fruit on it. My Mistress was wondering what had been happening to the lower branches of the young fruit trees but she has no actual proof and had, giving him the benefit of the doubt, put it down to windy weather. Now we know for certain and he got such a telling off that I can’t see him doing it again any time soon. Mind you, the thing that will hopefully put him off is that he got his comeuppance. The fruit is not ripe yet so it would not have tasted very nice. I thought our Mistress was a little harsh when she said to him ‘I hope you get tummy ache’ but sure enough by the end of the day he’d got a bit of an upset stomach and was feeling very sorry for himself. Let’s just hope he’s learnt his lesson.
Shadow had a rest day from walking yesterday as her leg was hurting and she’d been limping again. Her season has not started yet. She’ll be up to 28 weeks since the last one by tomorrow so she really is keeping us guessing. Our Mistress is very upset with her as it means that her sister cannot go with her now and she’d been looking forward to it. Shadow just shrugged and pointed out she was no more in control of her hormones than our Mistress is. Our Mistress had to concede that she had a fair point. At least dogs don’t go through the menopause. The last thing I need is Shadow’s hormones to be all over the place and for me to now know where I am with her from one minute to the next. It’s bad enough with her seasons but at least she won’t have many more of those and we can all relax a little. She says she’ll be happy not to have the bother of them when she’s finally spayed.
