Monday 15th June 2015 – Well they did it!

The family went off on their cycle yesterday and came back a couple of hours later looking very wobbly. Our Mistress was ok walking on the flat but when she tried to go upstairs she was all over the place. It was one occasion that I was happy to be excluded. She said she quite enjoyed it, but quite honestly I think from the state she was in she has a very odd idea of what enjoyment is. They got the hang of it a little later by going to the village pub’s Beer Festival. It meant a nice quiet day for us, but then with the weather as it was none of us really felt like doing much so we didn’t mind. Shadow is being all sweet and gentle. It only happens when her season is approaching, but I have to say that’s the way I like her best. Ari is confused as he still wants to be really playful and she is being a little quieter. She’ll play enough once her season starts and that will drive us all nuts, well except Ari who will think all his birthdays have come at once.

Our Mistress has resorted to planting the squash plants in containers at the back of the house. She says it’s much easier to look after them in the garden where she spends most time, but she had so set that against the risk of us nibbling at the edges. So far, I’m pleased to say, none of us has done them any damage. I think I can safely say I won’t do any harm, but I’m not so confident that the same can be said for my housemates. At least one of them does have a tendency to investigate what everything tastes like and his mother did have a reputation for digging up the contents of the plant pots when she was young!
