Saturday 16th May 2015 – 50 shades of blue

It was Mum (Shadow’s) turn to try the blue paint yesterday. Our Mistress got round to touching up the room where she likes to sit and watch the world go by, Mum that is, not our Mistress. Anyway, she tried the dark blue paint on to see how it went with her coat and I have to say I think the light blue suited Alfie better. I was not allowed anywhere near while the painting was taking place, for obvious reasons! On the upside that’s the pain pots put away again for a while but apparently now we’re going to have to lend a paw with some other jobs around the house. I’ll be glad when our Mistress stops having the urge to get all the jobs sorted out and takes to sitting with her feet up instead. I prefer days like to day when she’s said, as long as the weather is good, we can spend outside doing some gardening together. It’s amazing how quickly everything has been growing now it’s warmed up a bit. I don’t want to speak too soon as our Mistress spoke to our friends in Switzerland yesterday and it was snowing there even though it is the middle of May.

What is funny is that all the girls seem to be timing their seasons to happen at the same time and at this rate will be queueing up for the stud dogs. We’re just trying to encourage Shadow to be ahead of all the others, but she says she can’t hurry these things. In the same way our Mistress missed being at home with us for Christmas we are now opening a book on the chances of Shadow’s season starting on the 17th of June. That way if timings are normal she will make our Mistress spend her 50th birthday in the utility while Shadow gives birth. It is not quite the party our Mistress had in mind, but I’m sure she would enjoy it!
